FICCI
Established in 1927, FICCI is the largest
and oldest apex business organisation in India. Its history
is closely interwoven with India's struggle for independence
and its subsequent emergence as one of the most rapidly growing
economies globally. FICCI plays a leading role in policy debates
that are at the forefront of social, economic and political
change. Through its 400 professionals, FICCI is active in
52 sectors of the economy. FICCI's stand on policy issues
is sought out by think tanks, governments and academia. Its
publications are widely read for their in-depth research and
policy prescriptions. FICCI has joint business councils with
79 countries around the world.
A non-government, not-for-profit organisation,
FICCI is the voice of India's business and industry. FICCI
has direct membership from the private as well as public sectors,
including SMEs and MNCs, and an indirect membership of over
83,000 companies from regional chambers of commerce.

on policy issues, enhancing efficiency, competitiveness and

a platform for sector specific consensus building and networking.

About GAIL
GAIL (India) Limited is India's largest
natural gas transmission and distribution company having natural
gas trunk pipeline network of over 7,100 km. with a capacity
of 155 MMSCMD. GAIL is laying five new natural gas pipelines
measuring 5000 km. involving a capex of nearly US$ 6 billion
which shall enhance the transmission capacity to around 300
MMSCMD in next two to three years.
GAIL has been a forerunner in developing
gas distribution in India. The Company has pioneered the introduction
and successful implementation of city gas projects in two
major metros of India, viz. Delhi and Mumbai, through the
joint venture route. GAIL has set up wholly owned subsidiary
GAIL Gas Limited for pursuing city gas distribution projects.
Apart from natural gas transmission, distribution and processing,
GAIL has diversified business interests in LPG transmission,
Petrochemicals and Exploration and Production activities.
The Company has presence in countries such as Egypt, Myanmar,
China and Oman.
GAIL is one of the leading public enterprises with a consistently
excellent financial track record. Turnover during the last
ten years has shown a compounded annual growth rate of 15
per cent. The Company recorded a Turnover of Rs. 236.67 billion
and Profit After Tax of Rs 28.04 billion in the year 2008-09.
GAIL, along with FICCI, has promoted
the Asia Gas Partnership Summit and the AGPS- 2010 will be
the sixth in the series. The summit seeks to bring together
leaders from the global natural gas industry, be it suppliers,
consumers, policy makers, legal experts, consultants and technology
providers on a common platform. Our objective has been to
elicit the view points of leaders in the gas industry on how
they perceive the paradigm shifts taking place in the global
gas business, the concerns of consumers, regulators and Governments
and the future of gas business.
