Mr. Stephen Thompson manages Poten’s Asia-Pacific practice, based in Perth, Australia.  His consulting work has centered on providing strategic and commercial advice to companies developing of LNG projects and monetizing gas reserves. 

Mr. Thompson has advised clients extensively on flexible LNG trade; price forecasting, and arbitrage; and LNG procurement.  Formerly, as Exploration & Production Manager for Chevron in Colombia, Stephen was responsible for a business supplying 90% of Colombia’s natural gas needs.  During his tenure, negotiations with the state oil company set the stage for a major expansion that included construction of a gas export pipeline to Venezuela. 

Before that, as Fiscal and Planning Manager for Texaco in Angola, Mr. Thompson was part of a team that more than doubled oil output.  Mr. Thompson has a Masters in Law & Diplomacy from Tufts University, a Masters in International Business from the University of South Carolina, and a BA in International Economics from Valparaiso University.  Mr. Thompson is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
